First A Bomb, Second An Edit
A Poem
this is my first attempt at writing a poem in a long while. I have been trying to channel my thoughts and observations on the way society can edit history with something as simple as editing our technology. This adds more to the genocide by making it digitally archived and permanent.
Rafah was a city in Gaza,
Wikipedia turned it into past tense overnight.
Lebanon’s villages disappear daily,
Apple maps erases them in real time.
I know these places to be real,
more than an infographic,
carousel,
and news reel.
And just like that—
A civilization can be backspaced,
deleted,
eliminated.
